Board members & Fred Paik    Alyssa & Children   New Hope Church Women’s Group

Dear Friends,

Hallelujah! We send greetings from Rainbow Family Ministry, which is continuously growing in His mercy and grace. We hope you are staying healthy in this cold weather season.

I would like to introduce three new members to our family: 26-year-old single mother Alyssa, her 3-year-old daughter Ella, and her 1-year-old son, Malachi.

Alyssa’s parents divorced when she was 14, and her father returned to Mexico while her mother remarried and took care of Alyssa and her sister. When Alyssa’s sister turned 18, she left her mother’s house. Alyssa didn’t think that she could continue to live with her parents without her sister and left as well. Later on, she met her children’s father and had a brief period of happiness, but eventually he hurt someone and was sent to prison for 8 years. When she came to Rainbow Family, Alyssa confessed that she had hardened her heart towards the world, and held a deep hatred for her children’s father. However, I know that the Lord has great plans for her future; she loves reading the Bible and every Sunday she worships the Lord with all of her heart. I pray daily for her healing, and ask you to join me in praying for her journey with God.

Mr. Fred Paik, who was the original translator for our book The Narrow Gate, which is currently being printed, came to the last board meeting and I was so glad to be able to meet and thank him in person. It took him more than three months to translate the book and he never asked for any compensation, wanting only to help us with our mission. I pray that The Narrow Gate will give a better understanding of God’s plans for the lost, and that anyone who reads this book and does not know Christ would come to know Him and all his great works.

The women’s group of New Hope Church in Pasadena came to visit us with delicious snacks for our after school program children, as well as contributions for our ongoing building renovation. I thank them for all of their prayer and support.

I thank our friends, our supporters, foundations, and all of the churches that have made contributions towards our building expansion project. However, we still have a long way to go financially. Won’t you join us in this great work to expand our mission to more women and children who need God’s grace? I pray continuously that in the coming year, there will be more supporters so we can finish this project and help our community in a greater and more effective way. I thank you for any and all of your support from the bottom of my heart.

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” – James 1:27

I pray that God would bless richly your church, home, business and ministry and that His mighty power be with you always.

 Happy New Year!!

The families of RFM wish you a very happy new year with God’s grace and blessings.

We experienced Christ’s love being poured out to us this season through the efforts of supporters like you, our local churches, and various volunteer organizations.

On Christmas Eve afternoon RFM held a wonderful birthday party for Jesus. Not only did our current Rainbow Family members celebrate, but also several of our previous graduates as well as our after school program children and their families came. We served Christmas meals for them and gave out gifts for the mothers and children.

Our group was so cheerful, residents of the neighborhood stopped by the front lawn to see what was going on. In the spirit of Christmas, we also shared with them meals and gifts. We thank God for his faithfulness and love; I thank you also from the bottom of my heart for all of your prayers and financial support.

RFM is praying very hard this year for the successful construction of a second floor of our home, in order to be able to take in and minister to more women and give the children additional space for after school classes, study, and recreation. We ask once again for your prayers and financial support during this pressing time.

The Sunny Hills High School Recycling Club members brought presents for each and every one of the RFM children, along with handwritten cards that lit up their faces when they realized that the gift was personal.

I would also like to thank Mrs. Lim and Erica Kim, the leaders of the Living Stone Community Volunteer Program for all their support and service.

In 2015, we would like to continue to spread the gospel and influence the lives of young people, and through them, minister to their families and their communities.

I plan to continue to give my entire heart to the ministry in this new year, and to always do my best to spread the Lord’s blessings to those in need with your support and prayers.

I thank the supporters of the Jonathan Home in Las Vegas form bottom of  my heart because of your support and prayer ministry is stronger than ever before.

Deuteronomy 6:11

“The houses will be richly stocked with goods you did not produce. You will draw water from cisterns you did not dig, and you will eat from vineyards and olive trees you did not plant. When you have eaten your fill in this land,”

I pray that this year your lives will come with more blessings than any of the years previous and I believe the Lord will fill you with the bounties of heaven and the riches of the earth.

Thanksgiving                            Christine Chung                  Future Young Leaders of America

Merry Christmas!!

Dear Friends,

Hallelujah!!

Christmas greetings to you from Rainbow Family in the name of our Lord!

I give thanks to God who has given us our calling with His love and grace and has allowed us to see the fruits of His gospel in the lives of many this year. The year of 2014 was especially filled with blessings, and we thank our Lord for taking care of our Rainbow Family members and the children of the after school program. Truly, His grace is sufficient for us today.

As our ministry continues to expand, our financial burdens become heavier, but God has given me the patience and obedience to stay humble for the works that are sure to come in the future. I am always amazed to see His working hands through the help of friends like you and I am incredibly thankful.

This year’s Thanksgiving was wonderfully similar to last year’s. Chairwoman Soo Lee brought many dishes for our turkey dinner along with pumpkin pies to share with the neighbors and after school program children. My heart rejoices because God had answered my prayer of being able to touch the lives of many more families in need during this holiday season.

Many of the young children who come to us are raised by single mothers and have difficulties with self-esteem and anger or abandonment issues. They also tend to struggle academically compared to their peers and have trouble forming relationships at school. Through RFI’s after school program, especially its music and art therapy classes, many of these children have begun to show signs of healing and improvement in both their grades and their behavior. Thank God for all of our volunteers, especially our newest volunteer Christine Chung, and their compassion and dedication to our cause.

Thank you once again to all of our supporters who responded to our Phone-A-Thon. I ask for your continual support as I make every effort to raise these children to be healthy and educated members of society in Christ.

Please help me to provide these children in need with presents that will surely brighten their faces Christmas morning;

I need your help!!.

I also give thanks to the Future Young Leaders Of America, who generously donated funds towards our renovation project to further expand our after school and ministry programs.

I promise that with your prayers and support, I will continue to do my best to spread the great love of Jesus Christ in season and out of season.

Glory to God in the highest heaven and on earth; peace to those on whom his favor rests.” (Luke 2:14)

I pray that the living hope of miracles and blessings are with you and your loved ones in this glorious season.

Dear Friends,

Hallelujah!!

Greetings in the name of Jesus from our Rainbow Family Home

Already, we are approaching Fall of2014 towards the season of thanksgiving and sharing.

I thank God that this year, the Lord has been doing amazing things and blessing us here at Rainbow Family Ministries. The Lord allows us to share the love of Christ with those who struggle around us because God has given us supporters who are so open-hearted and loving as you.

Each day, as I serve the Families living in the home who are being transformed in their heart and lives….. as I witness the children who attend the RFI School each day be restored in their child-like laughter and confidence, I am thankful that they get to experience the living God who blesses them and I am forever grateful for the Lord and supporters who make this all possible for us.

Currently, it has been difficult and challenging due to the small space at the center for students and volunteers to continue the RFI School as well as for the families made home here at the center. We need expansion of the building desperately to continue in the future.

Please partner with us to transform society through the gospel and breathe hope in the lives of the children and their challenging environment.

We are all so praying fervently for the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas to help and give to the community.

We ask that you participate in the Phone-A-Thon set for October.

We are continually giving our best efforts with Jonathan Home in Las Vegas to minister to the lives of those who have lost their ways in that city, with almighty God who creates and transforms the lives of those we minister to. Hallelujah!!

We are in dire need of your prayer and support at this time.

James 1:25

But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it–he will be blessed in what he does.”

I pray that His bountiful grace and peace will be with you, your home, church and work places always.

Eunice and her daughterv          RFI school graduation                  Brandy

Dear Friends,  Hallelujah!!

I cannot believe it’s already the month of the full moon festival in 2014.

I hope you are well. I greet you in the name of Jesus from us at the rainbow family ministries.

I want to introduce to you our new family member Eunice (29 yrs old) and her daughter Joy (10 months old). Eunice was born in Guatemala in a Christian family to a father who is a pastor. She was married with 3 children living in Guatemala. She moved to Texas with her husband and youngest child joy for his job, but was abandoned by husband shortly after. She came to USA. she came to CA to live with her cousin, but due to difficult circumstances, she was referred to RFM home by the local church.
Would you please pray with me for her broken heart to be heald by true love of God.

Brandy (30 yrs old) is a expecting mother form Covina. Due to her increasing addiction problem, she lost her job two years ago, losing touch with family members  and living out of her car. Once she realized she became pregnant, she wanted to clean up her live and came to live with us. Though it’s been a short time, she accepted The Lord and we are amazed at her posture and heart before The Lord!

Please pray with me that she will be victorious as a mother and a daughter of God.

Please partner with us as we live out God’s mission to consider the soul of the one who is hurting.

Last August 16, with 50 or more parents, volunteers, and board members, we held our second RFI school graduation. For the past year, through the rainbow school, children learned about the love of God and realized that loving those around us and working together in a society is so much more meaningful. They developed more confidence and hope for the future. At the graduation childen confessed that Jesus is alive, and that he loves them, protects them, and is providing for them through amazing food provided by rainbow ministries. That day, I experienced the indescribable joy and felt that this is what it means to have His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. special thanks to those friends who provide the school supplies, backpacks, and food for the graduation celebration.

We are still raising Building fund for the second floor expansion. We have received the permit to build, but are still in need of construction funds. I pray that you will partner with us in this ministry of working to transform the world through the sharing of the Good newa of Jesus Christ!!.

Luke4:18-19

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed,

to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

I pray that His bountiful grace and peace will be with you, your home, church and work places always.

RFI Summer School Field Trip         Olivia’s Family                English and Math Time

Dear Friends,

Hallelujah!!

I hope you are doing well in this warm weather! Greetings to you in the name of our Lord.

I want to introduce you to Olivia (age 38) and her children, the one the Lord sent us last month.

Olivia was born in Riverside and grew up in Redland. Since she was young, she lived with her mom and her step-father after her parents divorced early on. At the age of 18 years old, she married and had 4 children. She was faithfully raising them, but struggled with a husband who was addicted to drugs and had a strong temper. Over time, she found herself also faltering into drugs. She wanted to deal with this issue and also leave her husband, but she could not see how it would work. She heard about Rainbow Ministries through a relative and waited for the opportunity to bring along her 8 year old son Buddy and 4 year old daughter Maya. Since coming to Rainbow home, she has been focusing intently on rehabilitation and giving it her all. I know that the only one who can heal her is our Lord. I humbly ask for prayer covering Olivia and her family so that she may find healing in God’s love.

Rainbow Summer School has been progressing well throughout summer vacation. With the protection and love of volunteers, the children are being fed spiritually and being fed physically by the healthy meals and snacks provided through your generous donations. With the music and art therapy, they are growing in self-confidence and changing their perspective in a positive way. Each time I witness the transformation in the children, I thank God for the gracious supporters donations and prayers for us. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

On August 16, 2014, Saturday at 11:00am, we will have the RFI Summer School Graduation.  At that time, we will be distributing back to school supplies, backpacks, and providing meals for parents, volunteers and guests .

I ask for your prayers and support for this special event.

The ministry is in desperate need of expansion upstairs. Currently, we are unable to begin the construction for expansion without all the required funds needed to begin construction. We are in dire need of expansion to provide more space for the families and children coming to us for safety and support. We are looking for 100 supporters who will support $1,000 each to the cause.

I ask that you will partner with us as we equip and help create a safe community by building them up with the Word of God and the Love of Christ.

Proverbs 11:25

A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.”

I pray that His bountiful grace and peace will be with you, your home, church and work places always.

I want to introduce a new Rainbow family member 22 year old single mom Marian and, her 8 month old precious son Frank, and her 3 year old daughter Nelani. Marian’s father is still homeless and she doesn’t know where he is. Her mom is an alcoholic living in Corona area, she tried to make a contact with her but she is out of touch. When Marian was a young girl she was adopted by her grandparents by the court decision and she grew up with her uncles and aunts believing they were her own brothers and sisters. When she became older she was in and out of juvenile detention facility with her wound and pain, she spent many years of young adults life prostituting. Her babys father spent more time in the prison than with her so she live in a motel rooms with her children, and she realized how cold and terrifying this world can be. At R.F.M she felt genuine love and care for the first time in her life and began to know and experience the love of our heavenly Father.

I’d like to ask for your prayer and support for Marian and her children that her deep scars would be healed by the true love of Jesus and live the life of victory in him.

Walkathon fundraiser is one of R.F.M annual events. On May 10th we were able to launch this event with many R.F.M volunteers, Hana and Ryan, and Sunnyhill Recycling club members.

All participants walked with joy and we shared a wonderful meal and great fellowship afterward.

Thank you all participants and supporters in this Walkathon event for your prayer and support.

K.A.R.T raised funds through “Love Run” event and donated to R.F.M. The fund will be used for R.F.M free summer school programs. I give thanks to K.A.R.T president and all members, and I will never forget your love and encouragement and I will continue to reach out to our community in the name of our Lord.

I also humbly thank you for those who gave for R.F.M building fund, encouragement letters and phone calls. I’m certain that God will remember your love for neighbors in need and richly bless you.

Justine                           RFM afterschool children             Kathy Chang and friends

Dear Friends

Hallelujah!!

I hope and pray all is well with you. RFM families greet you in the name of our Lord.

We send our deep condolences to families who lost their loved ones in a sunken ferry, Sewol, a 6,300-ton vessel at sea off the coast of South Korea. We pray for God’s comfort to touch the families as the nation wallows in shame and guilt.

I want to introduce Justin, 18 year old girl, came to our home last month. When she turned 9 years old she was put into a various foster homes until she became 18. When she turned 18 she was forced out of the foster home and became homeless. But by the help of her Korean high school friend she found RFM and now she’s our family member. She stated registered to a military in order to escape homeless. While she is waiting to inter in to the Army, I told her “come and stay at RFM any time and this home is your home and we are your family from now on…” she was so thankful with tears. I’d like to ask for your prayer and support for Justin that she would find healing and reconciliation in her relationships by the true love of Christ and become a physically and spiritually strong God’s child to live a victorious Christian life.

All our RFM afterschool children are being taken good care with healthy meals and the days are filled with activities and now they show big smiles on their faces and plays hard every day. I continue to ask you to take part in the building extension project for our afterschool program that the children would continue to receive help on their homework by volunteers, art classes by Jung Bo Kyoung, music lesson by Livingstone, and Bible verse memory activities and many more so that they would experience the love of Christ and grow in the knowledge of saving grace.

I thank you from bottom of my heart for your love and generous contribution, but we have long way to go to start construction. Partner with us to reach out to the community and these precious children.

We give all glory to God our Father for using RFM to be a channel of blessing.

Easter week Kathy Chang and friends visited our home and brought food for Easter dinner.

They even decided to cook meals once a month to serve our afterschool children. We thank them for their love.

On May 10th, we are going to kick off “Walkathon”. It is one of our RFM annual fundraising activity that the participants will walk 50 blocks of our city. Please be a sponsor for this event.

Apr-2014

Dear Friends, Hallelujah!!

I hope and pray all is well with you.

All of the new shoots and blooming flowers of springtime are reminding me of all creation and its celebration of the resurrection of Christ with us.

Currently, we have a spectrum of recovery and rehabilitation going on among a full house of Rainbow Family Mothers and children.  Some Mothers at the home are going to school and working regularly.  Other Mothers are doing their rehabilitation curriculums.  But we are all in His grace, trying to live by the word of God, and to learn through him a healthier way of life.

All  RFM school children are being taken care by love and improving their academic work at school, and they now have a sense of belonging, and their attitude have become gentle as they were going through art and music therapy. They also have become physically healthy after having proper meals and healthy snacks.  A few days ago, I received a phone call from Centralia Elementary school that they are truly thankful for the ministry that we have here at RFM.  Most children at Rainbow home and after school program currently attend this elementary school.

Your love and support is helping spread the gospel to the local communities, we are so delighted and thank you again.

I ask earnestly that you could help RFM with your prayer and Financial support that we could continue our after school program and thus we could expand our facility and shine the light of Jesus to our community.

In Las Vegas, Jonathan home is run by pastor Won Suk Choi  and Mrs. to reach out to college students who are addicted to Las Vegas culture  (gambling, drug and alcohol). And sex trafficking and domestic violence victims. Jonathan home continue our ministry of healing and evangelism all the more in thins town. Although Home has been open for only three years, we notice many fruits, and home has become a refuge and the light house for many Koreans and for Korean community as well. I thank from bottom of my heart for YNCC church and your faithful support.

1 Peter1:3

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”

I pray that the power of resurrection of our Lord Jesus will be with you, your family, and your church always and God bless you!

Reaching Out to Those Trapped

Lemonaide Live’s special guest on January 2 was Liz Lee. The subject had to do with human trafficking and that is exactly one of her pet ministries. There are approximately 20 to 30 million slaves in the world today, but some, I’m happy to say, do get a “New Beginning!”

I’m here to bear witness that this lady is very brave and bold. First, let me share about her background.

Liz Lee came to America from Korea to study on the west coast. But when she became pregnant, Liz moved in with an aunt in Las Vegas. She was a marketing director for a casino while raising her daughter, but eventually moved away, not ever expecting to return.

After sending her daughter off to college, Liz started abusing alcohol, lasting ten years. It was at a Christian Rehab center, the Lord met Liz right where she was at, broken and rebellious. The light overshadowed the darkness transforming and delivering her.

Liz attended seminary and realized that one of her callings is for women with children who are trapped in the prison system. She soon opened a home, Rainbow family, welcoming them. Many women have come to know the Lord, improving their education and job skills.

The other component of the ministry is called Motel Kids of Orange County. As Liz explains, “We did summer school and fed them three meals a day. During the school year, we help with homework and on Saturdays, the children learn various instruments. We’ve experienced great success.

Liz’s battleground is in Las Vegas, the headquarters for X rated movies, gambling, and many other sinful pursuits. It is in this place where people lose their life resources at the gambling tables and are now forced to find a way out. Some women, such as students, get into prostitution and are in bondage to their pimp.

These women are regularly beaten and forced to meet a quota. Some have children and just became stuck in a web that is not easy to untangle. This is where Liz fits in the picture by offering a home to escape, called Jonathan House.

When these ladies arrive in this Godly shelter, they are loved and taught about the Lord. As Liz says, “I’m not here to judge. We witness transformed lives. So far, we have collaborated with other agencies and the community to provide either overnight or emergency shelter to 187 victims of human trafficking and domestic violence, and served 706 clients living in violent environments via a 24-hour hotline.”

What I learned from Liz is that these victims are abused and brainwashed to believe they are unworthy of real love.

The miracle working power of Jesus Christ has brought new hope and life to these women. Some have found employment or even entered the ministry.

Liz is 100% committed to these ministries. She pours in, her heart, time, and love for the work of the Lord. She risks her life every day, especially when being threatened by the pimps who are determined to get their slaves returned. How wonderful that she found her niche and calling.

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound…” (Isaiah 61:1 NKJV).

Denise & Philip                          After school kid’s                               Megan & her family

Dear friends,

Hallelujah!! Hope you’re doing well in His peace!

We all, at RFM in Buena Park and Las Vegas Jonathan Home, are working out our salvation with fear and trembling in God’s grace and mercy daily.

I’d like to introduce Denise, 24 year old single mom and Philip 7 month old son; they came to our RFM home last month. Denise was born in Corona, California she did not know her father. She lived with her mom until her mom was remarried and she had to leave home. Later she met Philips father but the joy lasted only a few month. When he found out that she was pregnant he left her. After she gave birth to Philip in the shelter she had to move from a motel to motel. But God allowed her to come to RFM home and now she knows how much God loves her and she gives thanks to him for giving her a new home and spirit filled life.

I would like to introduce new family Megan, 24 year old mom and her 5 year old son Aaron, 2 year old daughter Janice, and 5 month old son Gabriel. Megan was born in Bellflower, California, the only daughter in the family of 10 children. Her parents were addicted to drugs and alcohol and her mother gave birth to 10 children including Megan herself to several men. Megan was sexually abused as a child and had many other problems at home growing up but could not tell no one. When she reached a teen age her mom left her and moved to other state and lost her contact for more than 6-7 years. Megan decided to separate from her babies father due to his addiction to drugs and alcohol. When she did not know where to go she found RFM home and she could not believe such a place exists to welcome her and her three children with comfort and love without condition. She now accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior and Lord and reads the Bible daily without ceasing. She is thankful and often tearful when she shares her faith with us that God is love and He never leave her or forsake her. Praise the Lord!!

Several months ago a Chinese American woman and her two children found our RFM home to escape domestic violence. They spent almost two months and returned to her husband. She opened her heart to Lord Jesus while she was with us at RFM and she shared a new found faith in true God to her husband and now both she and her husband come to church and worship together with us every Sun day. Hallelujah!!

All the children who come to RFM free after school program gained health and their grades at school are improving as well as their self esteem. All these wonderful works are the fruits of your prayer and support.

I thank you from bottom of my heart.

As pastor Park and I continue our two ministries, rehab and after school, our facility is crowed and limited.

We desperately need expansion very soon. I ask for your prayer and support please help us!!

Deuteronomy28:12

The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.”

I pray that God would bless richly your church, home, business and ministry and that His mighty power be with you always.
