Walkathon 2014                Marian and her children              K.A.R.T.

I want to introduce a new Rainbow family member 22 year old single mom Marian and, her 8 month old precious son Frank, and her 3 year old daughter Nelani. Marian’s father is still homeless and she doesn’t know where he is. Her mom is an alcoholic living in Corona area, she tried to make a contact with her but she is out of touch. When Marian was a young girl she was adopted by her grandparents by the court decision and she grew up with her uncles and aunts believing they were her own brothers and sisters. When she became older she was in and out of juvenile detention facility with her wound and pain, she spent many years of young adults life prostituting. Her babys father spent more time in the prison than with her so she live in a motel rooms with her children, and she realized how cold and terrifying this world can be. At R.F.M she felt genuine love and care for the first time in her life and began to know and experience the love of our heavenly Father.

I’d like to ask for your prayer and support for Marian and her children that her deep scars would be healed by the true love of Jesus and live the life of victory in him.

Walkathon fundraiser is one of R.F.M annual events. On May 10th we were able to launch this event with many R.F.M volunteers, Hana and Ryan, and Sunnyhill Recycling club members.

All participants walked with joy and we shared a wonderful meal and great fellowship afterward.

Thank you all participants and supporters in this Walkathon event for your prayer and support.

K.A.R.T raised funds through “Love Run” event and donated to R.F.M. The fund will be used for R.F.M free summer school programs. I give thanks to K.A.R.T president and all members, and I will never forget your love and encouragement and I will continue to reach out to our community in the name of our Lord.

I also humbly thank you for those who gave for R.F.M building fund, encouragement letters and phone calls. I’m certain that God will remember your love for neighbors in need and richly bless you.

Dear Friends

Hallelujah!!

I hope and pray all is well with you. RFM families greet you in the name of our Lord.

We send our deep condolences to families who lost their loved ones in a sunken ferry, Sewol, a 6,300-ton vessel at sea off the coast of South Korea. We pray for God’s comfort to touch the families as the nation wallows in shame and guilt.

I want to introduce Justin, 18 year old girl, came to our home last month. When she turned 9 years old she was put into a various foster homes until she became 18. When she turned 18 she was forced out of the foster home and became homeless. But by the help of her Korean high school friend she found RFM and now she’s our family member. She stated registered to a military in order to escape homeless. While she is waiting to inter in to the Army, I told her “come and stay at RFM any time and this home is your home and we are your family from now on…” she was so thankful with tears. I’d like to ask for your prayer and support for Justin that she would find healing and reconciliation in her relationships by the true love of Christ and become a physically and spiritually strong God’s child to live a victorious Christian life.

All our RFM afterschool children are being taken good care with healthy meals and the days are filled with activities and now they show big smiles on their faces and plays hard every day. I continue to ask you to take part in the building extension project for our afterschool program that the children would continue to receive help on their homework by volunteers, art classes by Jung Bo Kyoung, music lesson by Livingstone, and Bible verse memory activities and many more so that they would experience the love of Christ and grow in the knowledge of saving grace.

I thank you from bottom of my heart for your love and generous contribution, but we have long way to go to start construction. Partner with us to reach out to the community and these precious children.

We give all glory to God our Father for using RFM to be a channel of blessing.

Easter week Kathy Chang and friends visited our home and brought food for Easter dinner.

They even decided to cook meals once a month to serve our afterschool children. We thank them for their love.

On May 10th, we are going to kick off “Walkathon”. It is one of our RFM annual fundraising activity that the participants will walk 50 blocks of our city. Please be a sponsor for this event.

Dear Friends, Hallelujah!!

I hope and pray all is well with you.

All of the new shoots and blooming flowers of springtime are reminding me of all creation and its celebration of the resurrection of Christ with us.

Currently, we have a spectrum of recovery and rehabilitation going on among a full house of Rainbow Family Mothers and children.  Some Mothers at the home are going to school and working regularly.  Other Mothers are doing their rehabilitation curriculums.  But we are all in His grace, trying to live by the word of God, and to learn through him a healthier way of life.

All  RFM school children are being taken care by love and improving their academic work at school, and they now have a sense of belonging, and their attitude have become gentle as they were going through art and music therapy. They also have become physically healthy after having proper meals and healthy snacks.  A few days ago, I received a phone call from Centralia Elementary school that they are truly thankful for the ministry that we have here at RFM.  Most children at Rainbow home and after school program currently attend this elementary school.

Your love and support is helping spread the gospel to the local communities, we are so delighted and thank you again.

I ask earnestly that you could help RFM with your prayer and Financial support that we could continue our after school program and thus we could expand our facility and shine the light of Jesus to our community.

In Las Vegas, Jonathan home is run by pastor Won Suk Choi  and Mrs. to reach out to college students who are addicted to Las Vegas culture  (gambling, drug and alcohol). And sex trafficking and domestic violence victims. Jonathan home continue our ministry of healing and evangelism all the more in thins town. Although Home has been open for only three years, we notice many fruits, and home has become a refuge and the light house for many Koreans and for Korean community as well. I thank from bottom of my heart for YNCC church and your faithful support.

Reaching Out to Those Trapped

 

Lemonaide Live’s special guest on January 2 was Liz Lee. The subject had to do with human trafficking and that is exactly one of her pet ministries. There are approximately 20 to 30 million slaves in the world today, but some, I’m happy to say, do get a “New Beginning!”

I’m here to bear witness that this lady is very brave and bold. First, let me share about her background.

Liz Lee came to America from Korea to study on the west coast. But when she became pregnant, Liz moved in with an aunt in Las Vegas. She was a marketing director for a casino while raising her daughter, but eventually moved away, not ever expecting to return.

After sending her daughter off to college, Liz started abusing alcohol, lasting ten years. It was at a Christian Rehab center, the Lord met Liz right where she was at, broken and rebellious. The light overshadowed the darkness transforming and delivering her.

Liz attended seminary and realized that one of her callings is for women with children who are trapped in the prison system. She soon opened a home, Rainbow family, welcoming them. Many women have come to know the Lord, improving their education and job skills.

The other component of the ministry is called Motel Kids of Orange County. As Liz explains, “We did summer school and fed them three meals a day. During the school year, we help with homework and on Saturdays, the children learn various instruments. We’ve experienced great success.

Liz’s battleground is in Las Vegas, the headquarters for X rated movies, gambling, and many other sinful pursuits. It is in this place where people lose their life resources at the gambling tables and are now forced to find a way out. Some women, such as students, get into prostitution and are in bondage to their pimp.

These women are regularly beaten and forced to meet a quota. Some have children and just became stuck in a web that is not easy to untangle. This is where Liz fits in the picture by offering a home to escape, called Jonathan House.

When these ladies arrive in this Godly shelter, they are loved and taught about the Lord. As Liz says, “I’m not here to judge. We witness transformed lives. So far, we have collaborated with other agencies and the community to provide either overnight or emergency shelter to 187 victims of human trafficking and domestic violence, and served 706 clients living in violent environments via a 24-hour hotline.”

What I learned from Liz is that these victims are abused and brainwashed to believe they are unworthy of real love.

The miracle working power of Jesus Christ has brought new hope and life to these women. Some have found employment or even entered the ministry.

Liz is 100% committed to these ministries. She pours in, her heart, time, and love for the work of the Lord. She risks her life every day, especially when being threatened by the pimps who are determined to get their slaves returned. How wonderful that she found her niche and calling.

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound…” (Isaiah 61:1 NKJV).

Dear friends,

Hallelujah!! Hope you’re doing well in His peace!

We all, at RFM in Buena Park and Las Vegas Jonathan Home, are working out our salvation with fear and trembling in God’s grace and mercy daily.

I’d like to introduce Denise, 24 year old single mom and Philip 7 month old son; they came to our RFM home last month. Denise was born in Corona, California she did not know her father. She lived with her mom until her mom was remarried and she had to leave home. Later she met Philips father but the joy lasted only a few month. When he found out that she was pregnant he left her. After she gave birth to Philip in the shelter she had to move from a motel to motel. But God allowed her to come to RFM home and now she knows how much God loves her and she gives thanks to him for giving her a new home and spirit filled life.

I would like to introduce new family Megan, 24 year old mom and her 5 year old son Aaron, 2 year old daughter Janice, and 5 month old son Gabriel. Megan was born in Bellflower, California, the only daughter in the family of 10 children. Her parents were addicted to drugs and alcohol and her mother gave birth to 10 children including Megan herself to several men. Megan was sexually abused as a child and had many other problems at home growing up but could not tell no one. When she reached a teen age her mom left her and moved to other state and lost her contact for more than 6-7 years. Megan decided to separate from her babies father due to his addiction to drugs and alcohol. When she did not know where to go she found RFM home and she could not believe such a place exists to welcome her and her three children with comfort and love without condition. She now accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior and Lord and reads the Bible daily without ceasing. She is thankful and often tearful when she shares her faith with us that God is love and He never leave her or forsake her. Praise the Lord!!

Several months ago a Chinese American woman and her two children found our RFM home to escape domestic violence. They spent almost two months and returned to her husband. She opened her heart to Lord Jesus while she was with us at RFM and she shared a new found faith in true God to her husband and now both she and her husband come to church and worship together with us every Sun day. Hallelujah!!

All the children who come to RFM free after school program gained health and their grades at school are improving as well as their self esteem. All these wonderful works are the fruits of your prayer and support.

As pastor Park and I continue our two ministries, rehab and after school, our facility is crowed and limited.

We desperately need expansion very soon. I ask for your prayer and support please help us!!

Hallelujah!!

I pray that God’s glory will dwell in your home and your workplace always all throughout the year 2014.

Just as a racing horse looks only forward to the finish line, our RFM families will continue to run forward with God given dream and hope in 2014.

 I’d like to introduce new family members to RFM; Nicole, 20 year old Mom and her 3 month old son James.

Nicole was born in Florida and when she was only 9 month old she was adopted and raised in southern California.  When Nicole turned sixteen both of her adoptive parents died of a car accident, and suddenly she became homeless choking back tears.  She began to move around from place to place living in a tent, and she met a homeless boyfriend and became pregnant.  Even before the baby James was born his dad was imprisoned for a crime and he is still in prison to this date.  Now Nicole is living with us in RFM home and she is greatful that the Lord led her to RFM and set her on a new path.

I’d like to ask you to pray for Nicole that she would find healing and victory in the Lord!

 I’d also like to introduce Lisa 29 year old mom and her 5 year old son Alex; Lisa’s hometown is Jew Jersey and she was raised by her parents who were drug addicts.  Lisa began to use drugs and alcohol at the age of eleven and she thought this life was normal.  When she finally realized and tried to live a new life and get help at various rehab centers, but society did not welcomed her and she found it very difficult to adjust.  Meanwhile, she met Alex’s dad but happiness did not last long and she went back to the life of wilderness. She is so thankful that she found the refuge like RFM.

I’d like to ask your prayer and support also for Lisa that she would open her heart to Jesus and find new life and hope in Him.

The children who come to RFM after school continue to feed on the love of Christ, run and play in the care and comfort of the Lord’s hand.  Special thanks to Dr. Park Kyung Ill of Livingstone CDC. and all volunteers teaching violin, cello, and piano.

Due to a limited space of our RFM facility, noises during our after school hours causes interruptions to our rehab trainings and the babies often have difficulty to sleep.  In order for the single mom rehab program to continue with the current after school program we need to have at least about 1000 square foot extension to our existing building.

Please help me to build this much needed space by sending extra contribution?

Happy New Year!!

 The RFM families wish you a happy new year with God’s grace and blessings.

We experienced Christ’s love poured out to our Home,  we received the Christmas gifts and toys through the hands of the supporters, local church members, Sunny Hill High school students and the city policemen.

On Christmas Eve afternoon, RFM had a wonderful birthday party for Jesus. not only our rainbow families but those who already have graduated from our rehab program and the families who leaving in the motels came to celebrate with us. We served Christmas meals for them and lots of Christmas gifts for the moms and the children. Jason Kim and his wife came and took family photos and printed out to each family and lighten up their hearts with Christmas joy and warmth. We were able to give 15pound bags of rice and baby items and leaving supplies donated to us by the Global Children Foundation.  We thank God for he’s faithfulness and love.   

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and financial support.

We had record number of visitors this year so we had to set up tables to celebrate the birth of Jesus out on our front lawn.  We ask for your prayer and support to expand our facility that we can have celebration inside our building in 2014.  Our deepest thanks to RFM Board members for there labor and financial support on this Christmas.

Young nak Celebration church along with several other church came together as a volunteer group to clean up our garage.  Special hanks to those young people of 2nd generation; it was a great joy to expect greater things to come through these young servants of God.

The year 2013 was our RFM 10th anniversary. 

It is no doubt that God allowed this mercy ministry with many partners and supporters to grow and touch the lives of many in His faithfulness and infinite love and grace.

Our free Summer school program was possible through Edison Electric Co, Open Bank and Mr. Hah Sang Bok and many other supporters.  And Jonathan Home Mission center completed its repair and remodeling by the donation through the fashion show led by Young nak Celebration church.  And we were able to have 10th anniversary thanksgiving praise sponsored by Calvary Presbyterian church.

On Thanksgiving, Dr. Lee Dong Ill and Mr. Lee Soo  donated all materials and food needed to make a turkey dinner for many in our neighborhood families

We are currently offering a free after school program including dinner for our Rainbow School kids.  I can’t do this without help from friends like you!!

I’d like to ask you to help RFM continue in 2014 do the work of evangelism all the more in the home and the society by spreading the gospel message and sharing the love of Christ.

We pray for you and bless you our partners that as we continue to have a dream and vision together for New Year,

Dear friends,

Hallelujah!!

How are you doing? Greetings to you from the Rainbow Family in the name of our Lord.

 

We bring praises to our Lord who made us realize our calling in His love and grace and allowed us to pray together with the supports and to see the fruits of the gospel in the lives of many.

The year 2013 was our Rainbow Family Ministry 10th year anniversary and the year God bestowed His blessings to all RFM family members and the children attending our after school program.

We give thanks to Jehovah Jireh, our God the Provider.

 

As our ministry continues to expand, our financial burdens become heavier, but God allowed to open my spiritual eyes to see the miracles in the future and keep me humble and obedient to his will.

I am amazed to see God’s working hands through the help of our friends like you and I thank God for you.

 

This year’s Thanks Giving day was a special one, because Dr. Dong Lee and his wife Soo Lee gave away Many turkeys and all the trimmings for turkey dinner and even baked delicious pumpkin pies to share with the neighbors and the children who come to our after school program . My heart rejoiced because God answered my prayer through the helping hands of this couple that I was able to touch the lives of many more families in need.

 

The young children raised by single moms are internally wounded and often have anger burst and low self esteem. They also academically perform at a low level than their counterparts. However, at our RFM, through our after school program especially an art therapy program run by Mrs. Chung Bo Kyung, they regain their self esteem and begin to show signs of healing and Improvements in there behaviors. Thank God for her dedication.

I’d like to ask for your continual support as I make every effort to feed and raise these young children to become a future Ambassador of Jesus Christ in this world.

There are many more children making the Christmas present request made to Jesus this year I need your help!!

 

As a sequel of “The Beautiful Story”, the students at Sunny Hill High School in Fullerton performed “Recycling” and collected revenue and bought school supplies, bag packs and snacks for these children.

Thank you for your sacrifice and generous donations.

Happy Thanksgiving

Dear friends, Hallelujah!!

Rainbow Family that are restored and growing in love and grace, greeting to you in the name of the Lord!

I pray that you and your home will be filled with the blessing of the thanksgiving season and the love and fullness of his spirit of grace will spring forth to reach your neighbors.

We’d like to introduce a new Rainbow Family member.

We cannot upload her photo and announce her name but she is a Asian woman with three year old and one year old children came to our home. She was a domestic violence victim and afflicted and she and her family followed Buddhism. When she first opened the bible and listened to God’s word she said a repentant prayer and cried her heart out.

I ask for your prayer support that God would heal her wounds and comfort her.

With the thanksgiving hart I look back the year 2013, I see the hands of Lord’s faithfulness and loving kindness towards all moms and children taking refuge in the Rainbow Family home in Buena Park and Jonathan Home in Las Vegas, and He’s love continues to stir up my heart to proclaim the gospel and his love loudly than ever.

On October 26, Young Nak Celebration Church opened a fun raising fashion show event for Korean and Asian human trafficking and domestic violence victims to help support RFM Jonathan Home in Las Vegas. The theme of the event was 1920′s “Clothed in Strength & Dignity” The Power of a New Identity.

We praised the Lord Jesus, the lifter of our heads, as we walked on the red carpet like the Hollywood VIP stars.

Jonathan Home was first established three years ago as an extension of RFM, and it is the only Emergency / 30 day / 90 day shelter for Korean and other Asian women and children. it serves as a safe haven for women and children victims to escape from their offenders. Until Jonathan Home was established, the women and children victims of human trafficking and violence did not have any protective measure, but now they can come out of their nightmare and find the life of victory.

I thank Young Nak Celebration Church for the donation through the fashion show event, and this much needed fund would help those who are in desperate need to know the love of Jesus and finally be free from the bondage of sin.

We thank Young Nak Celebration church pastors, deacons, many volunteers and many who made the donations total over $25,000. We give all glory to the Lord our God.

And provide for those who grieve in Zion–to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.”

Hallelujah!!

Rainbow family greet you in the name of the Lord!

I pray that God’s fullness of blessing will fill your home this fall.

Our 10th year anniversary of Rainbow Family Ministry last September 22nd was a great blessing. Many of our friends and the families came to celebrate our anniversary with us. I send my heartfelt gratitude to all supporters who’s offered material and spiritual support for the last 10 years of our ministry.

Our Rainbow Family Home, just as we have done in last ten years, we will continue the ministry of healing and renewal for the gospel of Jesus Christ until He comes again, and we thank you for all your support and I believe that you will continue to stand by us.

We’d like to introduce our new Rainbow Family members: Nancy and her children. Nancy was raised in Texas and escaped from her kids father’s offense and misconduct. So she decided to come to California and find her long lost brother, but her circumstance was not going her ways. When she was filled with fear and worries and was searching for ways to survive she saw our website rfmusa.org and now found a new home. I’d like to ask for your prayer that Nancy and her 9year old daughter Amanda and 1year old son Caleb would find a new life of opportunity and peace in Christ.

Our after school program started last summer is now in full swing and touching the lives of ‘motel kids’, and they are regaining courage and confidence as they study and learn at RFM. It is our new joy to see them play and run in the yard as they are nourished with healthy meal at supper. One of the reasons that I’m most thankful is these children care for each other and hold each other’s hand in prayer at times. As I watch them, I am reminded that the power of the gospel can bind us all in Christ and I bring praises to the Lord that He truly uses our Rainbow Family as HIs instrument to reach out to them

Jonathan Home in Las Vegas continues to be a refuge for human trafficking and domestic violence victims, also a place for foreign college students who need help currently enrolled at UNLV and city college so that they would not pursue sinful ways of men but be challenged, healed and trained by the gospel.

How are you in this summer heat wave?
Rainbow family and I greet you in the name of our Lord.
The children who took RFI free summer school program for two and a half month at our center are mostly ‘motel kids’ (kids raised in a motel).
The ‘motel kids’ have become a social issue lately.
These children and their families are radically changing by experiencing the love of our God this summer.
Before these children came to our school they spent most of their time in a motel hallways and parking lot till their moms come home.
But through our summer school program they played musical instruments, studied Arts, English, Math and visited local libraries, zoo, and science museums.
And through various learning experience they gained self esteem as well.
It was heart breaking to see the kind of life they have; they do not have a swimsuit to wear to go to a swimming pool and cannot wear a fresh uniform because they did not have access to a wash machine.
Most kids have Hispanic parents and their Dads were deported or absent.
Their families stay in motels by government vouchers.
For these children we will offer continuous free after school program at our center.
English and Math classes will be taught by youth group volunteers from Grace Korean Community Church and Good Hand For One organization.
Music class will be taught by Ashley Kim, Arts by Chung Bo Kyung and dinner will be served every day.
If we look at the world we are overwhelmed but when we look to the city of God we find rest and all seemingly impossible tasks become possible in Christ.
Jesus taught us that we shall love the Lord our God and our neighbors which is the first and foremost commandment and we give all glory to our Lord Jesus.
I can’t do this without friends like you!!
